Your contribution to the conference: During the 12th International Conference on Carbonaceous Particles in the Atmosphere (ICCPA) I attended to 7 oral sessions consisting of 52 presentations and 3 poster sessions with 79 posters as well as two extra meetings – first in TU-Wien – TUtheSKY in the registration day and the second – Evening reception of the Mayor of Vienna (4th April). On the poster session “Source characterization and source apportionment & Aerosol concentrations, trends and transport – measurements and models” I had opportunity to show my results. My poster title was “Source apportionment of atmospheric carbonaceous aerosols collected in Krakow based on concentrations of organic/elemental carbon (OC/EC) and carbohydrates”.

Your contribution to the conference: Throughout the poster session I have acknowledged the COST Action COLOSSAL and introduced the audience to its work and objectives. In addition to listening to presentations that gave me the insights into the latest work and trends in my field, I was also able to meet researchers with whom I have exchanged ideas and discussed some topics related to my presentation that will possibly result in establishing some new collaborations in the future. I also took some time to discuss our future article with the people with whom we have collaborate and that will consist in the work performed during both STSM.
It was a very profitable conference.

My presentation title was “Occurrence of PAHs and new tracer of polyethylene plastic combustion, 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene in PM10 collected in residential area of Krakow agglomeration, South Poland”.

Your contribution to the conference: I presented my work “Diurnal and Seasonal Variation of Primary and Secondary Organic Carbon at an Urban Traffic Site in Istanbul” at EGU19. I believe my participation this year was very successful. I attended 7 oral and 3 poster sessions related to carbonaceous aerosol and their physicochemical properties, and 4 workshops. Through these sessions and workshops I was able to improve my scientific knowledge and communication to science, learn about networking, download and process satellite data, and participate as a reviewer of the upcoming IPCC report. In addition, my individual meetings with 7 researchers could be helpful for future training and collaborations. Thank you COLOSSAL.

Your contribution to the conference: Your contribution to the conference (around 100words): My abstract was accepted as a poster presentation at the European Aerosol Conference. The study is based on the results from the intensive measurement period in winter 2017-2018, in the frame of EMEP/ACTRIS/COLOSSAL networks. The objective of my work was the characterization of aerosol properties at the Romanian site during the campaign. The main results that I have presented are the source apportionment for submicronic organic aerosols and for black carbon. Thus, the contribution to the conference is consistent with the objectives of Colossal Cost action.

Conference: European Aerosol Conference – EAC 2019, 25 -30. 08.2019, Gothenburg, Sweden abstract and poster

Your contribution to the conference: I’ve presented the poster “Black Carbon Concentration Trend in the South-Eastern Baltic Region”. Discussed with other scientists the aerosol light absorption trends in Europe and why in Preila it is increasing, while, in general, it’s decreasing across the Europe. I’ve participated in the conference sessions which were closely related to the area of my work, i.e. emissions from aircraft and ships, source apportionment of organics and black carbon, optical measurement techniques, absorbing aerosols in the atmosphere and etc. I was interested what was new in aerosol measurements, therefore I visited all instrument producer stands. I’ve followed and endorsed conference activities shared on Twitter.
